GUIDE OF OLYMPIC GAMES - TRIATHLON |
Although
Triathlon dates back to 1978, it debuted as the new olympic
sport in 2000 Sydney Olympic games. The ultimate endurance
test, it requires athletes to excel at three different
sports namely, swimming, cycling and running. The olympic
Triathlon comprises a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride and
a 10km run. The race is started as a mass event remains
continuous with no stop between three legs involving strategic
change overs. The women are expected to complete the race
in over 2 hours and the men in 1 hour 50 minutes held
in two days on succeeding days in the morning.
